Weekly Game Jam 39 – ‘Take A Picture’ – Banandit – Protobox Games

Banandit – 3D chase game

  • This game was made for https://weeklygamejam.itch.io/
  • I joined a group called Protobox games through discord, this was their first game jam as Protobox games and we all had only just met each other.
  • I primarily worked as a programmer. I also designed the UI for the game.
  • The key thing gained here was working in a team remotely and I think I may need to try this again before I make up my mind about it as a process of game making.

Basc Game no. 3 – 3D On Rails

Basc Game no. 3 – 3D On Rails

  • This game was created for the Udemy course Learn To Code By Making Games – Complete C# Unity Developer that I completed in 2017.
  • I wrote a score keeper script that I made in such a way that it could transfer the score over to the score screen after the end of the level.
  • I made seperate scripts for each shape so that they could interact with the score keeper rather than one bloated script doing everything.

Basic Game no. 2 – Top Down Maze

Basic Game no. 2 – Top Down Maze

  • This game was created for the Udemy course Learn To Code By Making Games – Complete C# Unity Developer that I completed in 2017.
  • I wrote a simple movement script with an adjustable speed.
  • I drew out the maze in a coffee shop and then built it using the built in 3D cube tools in Unity.

Bowlmaster – A 3D Bowling Simulator

Bowlmaster – A 3D Bowling Simulator

  • This game was created for the Udemy course Learn To Code By Making Games – Complete C# Unity Developer that I completed in 2017.
  • This game uses a highly complex score system. It is complex because bowling itself has a confusing score systemcreated by mathematicians. I dislike this game more than any other that I have worked on because of this.
  • I used a strange system for launching the ball that I feel could have and should have been clearer and simpler.

Glitch Garden – A Plants vs. Zombies Clone

Glitch Garden – A Plants vs. Zombies Clone

  • This game was created for the Udemy course Learn To Code By Making Games – Complete C# Unity Developer that I completed in 2017.
  • In this game I worked with making a basic health/damage system.
  • This game used more complex animations that required the animation tools of Unity.
  • I spent a long time learning how to write code that would interact correctly with the animations and their projectile animations as and when they were spawned depending on the curent level.

Laser Defender – 2D Shoot Em’ Up

Laser Defender – 2D Shoot Em’ Up

  • This game was created for the Udemy course Learn To Code By Making Games – Complete C# Unity Developer that I completed in 2017.
  • The game introduced me to using projectiles, basic AI and SFSs in Unity.
  • The enemy ships are a part of a formation, in which they spawn on and shoot down until the player is hit and destroyed.
  • The player controller allows the player to move and shoot.
  • The Formation is what moves the ships apart from their spawning animation and this as also so that they would be able to spawn on gameobject positions in the formation.
  • This game had a step learning curve on the course and even now I look back at it and wonder why they thought to move us onto something that difficult so early on in the course.

Block Breaker – An Arkanoid clone

Block Breaker – A Arkanoid Clone

  • This game was created for the Udemy course Learn To Code By Making Games – Complete C# Unity Developer that I completed in 2017.
  • The blocks react to different blows if they are set to breakable in script. They change their appearance or are destroyed.
  • A simple music player was used along with the first uses of physics and background images in Unity on the course.
